Practice Makes Perfect ✎ improving together

Starla: she's a 13 year old girl who is stubborn and brash, and trying really hard to come into herself in a way that she understands. She is so so important. Also! she loves spiders and has been trying to convince her mother to let her get a pet tarantula. Her mother is not too keen on that.

Starla's got one of those.... faces where she always looks pretty mad (and usually she is at the very least unimpressed). she has a hard time opening up to people but when she does she is the schmoopiest goober ever. This is a commision I had done of her and another character of mine, Dale. The two of them very much have a slytherin (Starla) and hufflepuff (Dale) friendship and its amazing.



Levi: He's actually the main character of my novel! he's a piece of shit but I love him. He's a pretty self centered, only child kind of a kid (he's 18 during the book) who takes a lot for granted. Clearly, I shove his face into the dust and make him grow as a character and its a good time for everyone. He means well but as he grows he realizes a lot of things. Levi also has a prosthetic leg (the right one). art is annoying and I've accidentally swapped the side a few times in the last like 5 years I've had him as a character. Anyway, He lost it when he was three and that made him want to become an engineer! He's also very into music and sci-fi (he's a big fan of older stuff, like Shelley and Asimov and Dick). He's pretty into robots and stuff because he always took comfort in the idea that he's sort of a cyborg.

Adel: He is from a completely different story that I'm world building for after I finish Levi's story. so far, Adel's story is called "magic nugget" because I call all my WIP's nuggets.

Anyway! Adel is a cutie who can use magic related to the boarder between life and death. So, he can temporarily bring people/living things over the edge of death either way and shenanigans ensue. Adel himself is a very sensitive kid who is really invested in his family and his friends and struggles with finding direction in his life before he discovers his magical abilities.

I'm not very good at drawing him consistently yet, but here's a drawing from when he was 16, and also a doodle of him with his older sister, Raaka



Nora: my beautiful Daughter whom I love dearly. She and Levi are childhood friends and are platonic soulmates. She's extremely intelligent and loves volleyball and cats. She's also TINY, barely 5'0 and built powerfully. She plays Libero, which is a defensive position and is vice captain of her team.

She and Levi and up having a falling out during the narrative because she can't handle how self centered he is, but is also willing to reconcile with him once he gets over himself.

She takes care of all the local stray cats, but one in particular, whom she named after cats in sailor moon because she is also a fucking nerd ass who LOVES THE SHIT out of sailor moon.

Okay so! Dale is a 6'5 giant who tries to seem cool and mysterious but is actually a squishy baby inside. Dale's pronouns are actually They/Them, as they are genderfluid/intersex. They're also Panamanian! They were born in the US, but their older sister and parents immigrated. Their younger brother was also born in the US.

In general, Dale is a very practical person who works hard and ends up travelling all over north america (and into south america sometimes too) to keep help out people. They also busk to help keep themself afloat money wise. They've got a lovely singing voice and plays the Ukulele because its easy to carry around. The size difference between the Ukulele and Dale is a little comical.

Dale's never been especially school smart but finds their way through the world on their own terms, considering they had a really hard time during their teen years.

also this is Dale's older sister, Ofelia. She knows the pain of being an awkward teenager and then became super hot and is super smug about it. Dale actually grew their hair out because they were so inspired by Offie's long beautiful hair.
