Hello~ I was wondering if anyone here would be interested in making an Camp Nano Cabin for the July's Camp NaNoWriMo.

What is Camp NaNoWriMo?
Camp NaNoWriMo is a spin off of NaNoWriMo. NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month, and was started in 1999 with 21 people. The Mission is write 50,000 words in one month. In the years since,  hundreds of thousands of people have tried to  write a 50k word novel in one month and succeeding.

Camp NaNoWriMo is a simpler version that runs in April and July. You get to chose your word count, and you get to be in cabins with other writers to talk and encourage each other while writing.

YES.

I've been doing NaNo proper for a few years now (four years now I think?), just started doing Camp NaNo last year. I use Camp NaNo for experiments and NaNo for more serious novel ideas.

I'll certainly look into it! Trapped at work right now, though.

I've done NaNoWriMo the past two years, and this sounds like it could be up my alley as well.

Totally down for it. Though I'm not going to replicate last year's NaNo if I can help it...

I've heard of NaNoWriMo before. Tried it twice, but each time I wrote less than a few hundred words. Something something, no self-confidence. I just looked up the cabin system and it seems like it could be quite the fun and cute thing to do. I will consider probably do this. I'll post my camper profile here when/if I make one. Also, I am happy to see so many writers (and roleplayers!) in this community.

I started making a cabin. My story this time around is the second draft of What Makes a Man, a Man.

Summary:
Have you wonder what makes a story, a story? Who makes the choices on what happens in these stories? On why something happens when this character does something?

This story that I'm going to tell, has many threads. Like why is the woman crying alone in her room; or why the orphanage burned down; or why an old man is asking a room full of seven year old to become assassins?

This is the story of a boy name Denma Kato, who was abandon before he was a week old. This boy becomes a ninja, following the letter that his mother left him. He shapes the world around him, as he tries to become the best medic ninja. But he has challenges ahead of him, like what should he do when the only true ninja friends he has dies in many different horrible ways?

Or even moreso, when a four year old jinchuuriki winds up heavily injured and no one else cares. Should he do what is expected of him and leave the four year old to die or do what he believes in and save the child?

This story is also about a butterfly.

I'm still undecided at the moment if I'm actually going to stick with this idea, but what I've got so far is White Rat. The idea was spawned in equal parts from replaying Dishonored's third mission (the brothel) and turning around and grabbing my copy of Prostitution, Race, and Politics by Philippa Levine. My degree is in history and my focus has always been sexual politics (and art) in the 19th and early/prewar 20th centuries, and I've always wanted to work that into more of my works. Summary so far:

---

Corbette is a prostitute living aboard a flying brothel, a modern carnal wonder of an airship. During a stopover at one of the war front cities, she encounters an old woman who offers her the secrets of a witch spell, "power fit for the powerless:" the ability to take the form of a lowly rat. At first reluctant, violence aboard the airship brings Corbi to through with the heretical rite, and comes to revel in the invisibility her new shape affords her, and gradually finds the opportunities of such a power. But it also lets her learn more of the darkness creeping into her home, and now she must find a way to save her “family,” armed only with that single dark spell and her wits.

---

It's still very, very much rough, and I literally just came up with everything I have yesterday.

...My other idea involves mermaids. So...Yeah, torn.

Is it customary, or, rather, is there the expectation that one should start a new story or novel for NaNoWriMo? Because I have a novel I've been building up for a while (made a map and everything!) that I was going to use for this Camp NaNoWriMo. I'm only several thousandish words in, but I do have other concepts I could try to expand and explore before the start date.

Also, these stories are interesting. Actually, I've played a good portion into Dishonored and I can see the influence on yours, Jaiser. I gathered some inspiration from it as well.

Sure, Luxaria. Most people call it rebeling, but who would care? The organizers don't read the books. What Makes a Man, a Man will be the second draft. I'm not going to look at the first one as I write through. Just don't count those words in your word count.

Hmmm. If I'm reading correctly, the Camp variant lets you set your own personal word count? Are the rest of you planning to just do the standard 50k or something else?

First, to be clear, is this us trying to set up a private cabin? Or this just a thread for sharing and spreading the word?

Either way, I plan to do a second draft of my NaNo from last year, Stuffed (never did think of a better title). A story that was inspired last minute, in October, courtesy of Markiplier, Scott Cawthons's Five Nights at Freddy's, and the song written for it by The Living Tombstone.

Four teenagers hide out in an amusement park, sneaking around after hours for the hell of it. They son realize though that the park they had hidden away from may not be the same one they came back to. Attractions appear that they had never seen before, the layout has altered, getting them lost, and they can't help but get the feeling that something out there is watching, waiting...

Welcome here, to our fair isle,

And we'll have fun all the while!

Both. I usually do better with my word count if I have people to talk to, and the last two times I had random cabins, no one ever talk. :(
