Here's where you can suggest new achievements, or better titles/conditions for existing achievements.

Guidelines for Suggestions

  • No offensive language
  • The achievement should not reward a player for playing against their team. (For example, don't suggest an achievement for getting mislynched as town.) Basically, we don't want achievement hunters to sabotage their team on purpose for the sake of getting an achievement.
  • Achievements shouldn't be too specific (e.g. "be the last person standing in a game that ends on a full moon on a Wednesday").
  • People should be able to realistically earn them.

I really like some of the achievement titles! They are very funny :D I especially like the Mr. Bones one.

Um... I'm bad at thinking creatively, but how about Just as Planned for "Win a game as mafia without losing a single mafia member"?

Some suggestions on roles that were used in Town of Salem (for being rather similar in general) [Note, I tried to prune ones that are self-defeating or otherwise overlap with what's mentioned, but I might miss things]:

  • Tier achievements starting from winning your first game and followed up with similar achievements gained with the same achievement, but with more games under your belt (ex: Initiation: Win your first game. Novice: Win 5 games. etc etc)

*I don't consider these detrimental mostly because you normally can't target yourself with these abilities if I recall correctly. These might happen more because a transporter/busdriver redirected your ability to yourself.
^These might be considered detrimental...
+This one is a grey area. It might be possible to target yourself (by someone else's ability), or it might be possible to target another amnesiac.

Jesus christ Megrid.

These are all gold. Editing in as many as I can.

I really like "The Perfect Crime" as all mafia surviving and I think "Just as Planned" can be repurposed for some other achievement.

*more leftover brainfart*

  • Fatality - When killed, get targeted and killed by 3 or more people at the same time.
  • Just as planned - possible ideas
+ As mafia, kill a player, and have another mafia successfully disguise as them while a Janitor cleans their body.
+ As mafia, kill a player, then on the following day, coax the rest of the players to lynch a town or neutral player.
+ As mafia, kill a player, then on the following day, don't have any votes placed on any mafia players for the final tally of that day.
  • Fission Mailed / Peace Day / Silent Night - During a game, have an entire night go without any kills whatsoever, or an entire day go without a lynch.
    + May potentially be split.
  • Is anybody out there? - possible ideas
+ During a game, go an entire day and night, back to back, without any lynching or deaths.
+ Go 3 days without any deaths or lynches.

I wonder if the game-related achievements (e.g. the Silent Night / Is anybody out there? ones) could be host achievements? Technically the host doesn't really do anything to earn them besides have a setup that allows for it, but I feel like if all the players get the achievement then people might conspire to not kill anyone. Thoughts?

Aaah true, that's a good point. orz

I was thinking of a few games I ran into that had that kind of situation. Mafia kept targeting night-immune people by chance, and it was too early in the game for town to really commit to lynch anyone. We went for a few days in a row without any kills before the entire game was declared a draw when nobody could/wanted to kill anyone. Rarely see that happen much since, but if the host planned from the start to try to do the same thing, it could be exploitable... hmm.

Yeah I've definitely been in games where stuff like that happened. Between early phase enders, lynch cancelers, protective/bulletproof roles and people just straight up not killing, it's not impossible.

If these achievements are intended for official games only we can probably do host achievements like that, since I think we're requiring official games to be informally vetted for balance.

Mini announcement about the Thine Heart Be True achievement. The new text is as follows:

Thine Heart Be True wrote:As a town, vote for a mafia member at least twice in the game, and do not vote for town at any point. Only the final vote at each rollover counts, so you may vote town and then change your vote to mafia last minute to earn this achievement. Voting for no lynch, no vote, or voting a neutral do not count against you.

This is after a bit of discussion between the admins, where we decided that we didn't want a townie to be able to get this achievement by voting NL the whole game and then voting mafia at the end when it was a sure win. Additionally, we didn't want players to avoid making reaction/pressure votes, so now only the final vote at rollover is counted. This means you can vote for as many townies as you'd like and switch your vote as often as you want, as long as the final counted vote is on a mafia member at rollover.

Oof, I totally missed this thread before. I may have doubled up on a few of Megrid's suggestions--which I'll read through later when I have more time. But in the meanwhile, cross-posting this here at the request of Kiyoko!

--

So I happened to catch the suggestion that you wanted more achievements while you were talking about Nautilus helping you with the trophies. I'm not really familiar with the more advanced roles, nor am I familiar with how crazy these threads can get, but! I do have some ideas that might appeal to you. I don't expect all of them to work, but hopefully they can at least give you some inspiration. Also, I agree that there shouldn't be any achievements that would cause someone to negatively impact the game for the sake of achievement hunting. I have operated with this underlying goal in mind.

First, a simple idea would be evolving or progressive achievements. For instance:

Guardian Angel
As a protective role, successfully save one town member from death

Guardian Angel +1
As a protective role, successfully save one town member from death in two different games.
Guardian Angel +2
As a protective role, successfully save one town member from death in three different games.

You could also do variations, such as:

Guardian Angel - Doubling Up
As a protective role, successfully save one town member from death in two consecutive games in which you have that role.

That one reads a little fishy, but the intent is that... say you play as doctor one game, then town, then mafia, then doctor again. If you save someone as a doctor in both of those games, you get the achievement. But if it goes doctor (save), town, mafia, doctor (no save), doctor (save), and you fail to save someone in the second doctor game, then you do not get the achievement.

There could also be streaks:

Guardian Angel - Streaking
As a protective role, successfully save two town members from death in a row in a single game.
Guardian Angel - Streaking +1
As a protective role, successfully save three town members from death in a row in a single game.

So, basically, the point of all of these is to reward players over many games. Right now we have people starting to get achievements and trophies, but in a few months they might have gotten a lot of them. Adding streaking and progressive ones makes some of them more elusive, rare, and flashier, and thus all the more remarkable and impressive when they're finally obtained. Plus it'd reward consistent and frequent players and activity! Note that I didn't bother to think up names or anything, but I tried to distinguish each achievement from the others. You could either use the same name with additional flair, or slightly change it each time.

If you like the ideas of streaks and progressive achievements, you could also do unlockable ones. Say someone achieves Guardian Angel, wins a game as mafia, and wins a game as town. They are then eligible for working on a new achievement, such as:

Something for Everyone
In three consecutive games, successfully lynch a mafia as town, save a town as doctor, and win a game as mafia.

There are a lot of ways you can choose to spin these kinds of unlockables, so I'll wait to hear your thoughts on those before I throw out more ideas for them. So, moving on! Time for rapid-fire silly ones that I think wouldn't impact the game negatively (a few are questionable)? Also, the names are not set in stone and there are likely better ones. I just felt like throwing a few funny names in.

Han Shot First
Host a game in which two vigilantes shoot each other during the same night phase.

The Democratic Process
As town, be the deciding vote in a lynch on a mafia target.
(This one might not be great because it would cause players to withhold their votes)

((TBD))
As host, have a page top vote tally for three pages in a row.
. . . for five pages in a row.
. . . for ten pages in a row.

((TBD)) (There's a lot of potential for a name on this one)
As a protective role, target a mafia for a save on N0 at the same time that they target you for a kill.

Reverse:
As mafia, kill a protective role on N0 at the same time that they target you for a save.

Doppelganger
As mafia, claim a protective role and then in the following day phase lynch a player with that role.

Trust your heart
As a vanilla town, make it to the final three with a mafia and a protective role, and then successfully lynch the mafia.

Double tap
As mafia, kill a protective role on N0 and N1.

You're kind of cursed, aren't you?
As a host, run three games in a row in which mafia win.
or
As a host, run three games in a row in which mafia win without losing any members.

Mayor of the Year
As a host, run three games in a row in which town win.
or
As a host, run a game which concludes without the deaths of any town players.

Angel On My Shoulder
As town, be saved from the mafia twice by protective roles in one game.

I always feel like somebody's watchin' me
As an investigator, perform checks on three vanilla towns in a row in a game.

. . . and I get no privacy!
As an investigator, perform checks on two other protective roles in a game.

Okay! I'll leave it at that for now, but I still have some other ideas. Let me know what your thoughts are and I'll try to help churn out some more.

I'm fine with an achievement like this, but what should the criteria for it be? I don't want it to come down to a judgment call from the host, since that's just pressure on the host.

That makes sense to me. I'll give it a bit before adding it officially in case anyone else has any ideas. I'll also probably add in some of the ones Megrid and Luxaria suggested while I'm at it.

Also posting here to say that we need more host achievements because hosting is hard work and hosts deserve to get rewarded for how awesome they are. I will try to come up with more ideas but if anyone else has any, throw 'em at me.
